Last week of Winter 2005

BYU is such a unique institution that it is hard to compare the opportunities that it offers here to other schools in the nation, or even in the world.

During this last week of school, many activites were planned to help get the people of the ward together for one last time before we move on with our lives for the summer. I have posted some pictures that is only a portion of what we are gonna do for the closing activities.

I, as the Chairperson for the ward's Institute and Spiritual Welfare Committee, have also organized some activites for the ward's last Institute. More pictures should be comign up next.

175th Semi Annual General Conference

This conference, I had the opportunity to watch it inside the Conference Center. I truly feel very blessed to be able to do that because it is actually very hard to get tickets for General Conference but through some chances that I never thought would be mine, I got into all of the sessions for the Saturday conferences including the Priesthood Meeting.

Here is a picture of temple square, just across from the Conference Center. This picture was probably taken during Conference sessions because there are not a lot of people in it. The sun wasn't entirely out that weekend but the weather was great considering how much it rained during the week. In fact, it snowed in Provo. Nevertheless, nothing can dampen the spirit that was felt by all that weekend as prophets speak to the Saints from the pulpit in the dedicated arena. Don't let me make you think that the weather wasn't good that day. It was beautiful. The flowers were beautiful and the people were beautiful.

I learnt so much during General Conference. I wished there were more people I know with me that day. I wanted so many people to listen to the words of those inspired men. Throughout the next six months, I will be sharing excerpts from this General Conference in the religion categeory. You are now reading from the Journal categeory.

As the prophets share their teachings with the Saints, they never leave out the personal touch to their stories. Some pricks your heartstrings and some tickles your funny bones. I am very thankful for prophets that stand as righteous men on earth to safeguard our moral values and to perserve timeless truths that existed since the beginning to times. Indeed, as a Latter-day Saint, I live my life to the fullest by obeying the word of God and hold steadfast to the iron rod. Only beautiful things can come out of sacred truths.

Above is a picture of the First Presidency walking through the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, shaking their hands in recongnition of a brotherhood that can never be broken.

What a wonderful time to be on the earth today to enjoy the fulness of the everlastiong gospel that will be fully restored to the earth for the last time and never to be taken away!

Presidents Day

Being in American Heritage class has allowed me to appreciate how much the Founding Fathers of this land had sacrificed and how much this country is built on faith and prayers of that one loving God who is trying to redeem his people in these, the latter days.

Presidents Day is definitely a day to remember this significant event of all American lives that is what it is today because of thoe righteous men who fought for the independence of this great nation. Undoubtedly, no one can deny that the United States of America is the greatest country that GOD himself had raised up for the betterment of his children on this earth - and may I add, temporally and spiritually.

I am personally grateful to be part of this country especially on this day of rememberance.
